[Bookplate for Joseph Edgar Guimont by Chalifour Ltée Journal “Le Nord”] Blue ink on cream paper. Capitalized, block, sans-serif letters are printed at the top of the bookplate. Below the text is gothic font in sentence case with a thin blue line framing it atop and below. In the center of the bookplate is an image of a right hand reaching out of a cloud to pour oil into an oil lamp with the flame burning. The lamp is elaborately decorated with floral and curlicue embellishments. The lamp sits atop a closed book with the spine facing out. The cloud extends behind the lamp and book as well. A thin blue line separates the image from sentence-case serif font and another thin blue line is below that text. Below the line is thin italicized font and a dotted line. At the bottom of the bookplate is a thin blue line directly above some smaller, sentence-case serif blue font. 62. [Bookplate for Booklovers' Library] Blue ink on white paper. Thin border surrounds text. 63. [Bookplate for Charles Collier] Bookplate design consists of an escutcheon azure (blue), with a fess argent (silver), charged with three heraldric roses, two over one. Above the escutcheon is an esquire helmet, along with mantling. Above the helmet is a straight wreath, charged with a human figure holding a heraldric flower. Below the shield is a banner containing Latin motto. 64. [Bookplate for Nanticoke Mechanics' Institute] Bookplate format is text within a solid border. 65. Plate divided into three sections. At the top, the University of Toronto shield sits to the left of the text. In the middle is a picture of Hart House as seen from above. At the bottom is the name of the donor. 67. [Bookplate for Harry Miller] Brown ink. The initials 'H.M.' are formed out of sticks of wood. Perched atop the letter "H" is a bespectacled owl with a feather tucked behind its ear. It reads by the light of a lamp of knowledge. 68. The image is of a desk facing a window with two panes (each divided into eight sections) opening onto a view of an inlet and three mountains. A totem pole is behind the sinister pane. Drawn curtains are on both the sinister and dexter sides of the window. Above the window is a ribbon inscribed with "ALL LEARNING BUT AN ART TO LIVE WELL." On the desk, from left to right, is a painter's palette with two paint brushes, an open book, a ruler, ink well, fountain pen, pencils, card catalogue drawer, index card, small closed book, and a bust of Shakespeare. Below the bust are inscribed the initials "G.P.V.A." 71. [Bookplate for Sir Charles Tupper] Crest is a dog (i.e. loyalty and guidance). Helm is a Baronets and Knights. On the shield at the middle chief are two boars (i.e. courage and savagery) ; at the fess point are three shells(i.e. water, love, St. James the Apostle, pilgrimage and travel). 72. [Bookplate for John Ross Robertson] Geometric/art nouveau trim. The traditional Masonic symbol of a rounded square and compass against a rectangle. 73. [Bookplate for University of British Columbia Library] Green ink on cream paper. Text appears above and below shield, which is set on a dark background. 74. [Bookplate for J.E.G. Bibliothèque] Green ink on white paper. Thin green border is straight on the left, right, and bottom sides and rounded on top. Three capitalized letters are printed in stylized, rounded green font. Below the letters is text in pseudo-gothic sentence-case font. Underneath that text is a small green circle with two lines extending from its left and right. Below is text in the previous pseudo-gothic font in a larger size. There are several images underneath the text. There is a line of three images: an open book with curling pages in the center with a six-pointed star on either side. The left star has a plus sign in the middle and the right star has a question mark in its center. Three more images are below: a green owl on a branch in the center with lit oil lamps on either side. The lamps each point inwards towards the owl and sit on thin green lines. Below the images is a thin green oval border that is straight on the top and bottom sides. Inside is curling thin green text sitting on a thin green line. At the right end of the line is another thicker perpendicular green line dividing the oval into two uneven sections. 75. [Bookplate for University of British Columbia Library] Grey and black ink on white paper. Negative image of the UBC Main Library with the clocktower in the foreground. Text appears in and below image. 76. [Bookplate for Dunham Ladies’ College] Grey ink on cream paper. It features a border, double-lined. Within border, at the top, sits the title of the college in Germanic lettering. Directly beneath this title sits a curlicue line (centred), followed by the purpose and date that the plate was issued. Within the bottom half of the plate is four information lines, for prize recipient, donor, recipient, and principal signature. All of these information lines contain handwritten responses in faded black ink. 77. [Bookplate for B.C. Medical Library Service] Grey ink on white paper. Diamond patterned border surrounds text. Donor information typewritten at bottom. 78. [Bookplate for Sir Arthur Robinson] Heraldic bookplate. An argent lozenge shaped shield with an argent chevron and three stags. At the top of the shield is an open helmet facing forward (signifying a knight) on top of which is a crown and a fourth stag. Around the border of the shield is the motto for the Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George, "auspicium melioris aevi" (token of a better age). Above the shield is a ribbon with the motto "qualis ab incepto" (the same as from the beginning). The badge of the order, which is a cross of fourteen points, is suspended from the bottom of the shield. 79. [Bookplate for John M. Cameron by Soderberg] Image is of a portrait shaped border composed of three black fillets surrounding alternating images, also flowing around the interior border, of thistles alternating between facing upwards and down. On the interior side of the frame of thistles are two more black fillets separating the frame of thistles from the central image of a large thistle and its leaves facing upwards. 80. [Bookplate for Henry Young and Alice Young by Joseph Winfred Spenceley] In black ink on beige paper. In the centre, standing on the name plate, is the image of knight crusader, holding with outstretched arms a broad ribbon inscribed with the word "Credo." His Norman pointed shield hangs in front of his sword from a strap at his left hip ; the charges, untinctured, are: barry of five, in canton a leopard contournd. At either side of him rises a large acanthus-like scroll surmounted by a leopard's head ; behind him hangs an arras curtain, draped and knotted at the top. Across the base ripples a ribbon, inscribed "Ex libris Henry and Alice Young."
